‘Light’ quake rocks sections of eastern Jamaica

A magnitude 3.6 earthquake jolted sections of eastern Jamaica late Friday night (January 19).

According to preliminary information from the Earthquake Unit at the Mona campus of the University of the West Indies (UWI), the tremor struck 15 kilometres north of Yallahs, St Thomas around 10:15 pm.

The quake had a focal depth of 10 kilometres and was reportedly felt in Kingston and St Andrew.

There were no reports of injuries or infrastructural damage.
