Fast-rising reggae songstress Lila Iké had to come back to her roots in Jamaica for the second launch event of her new LP, ‘Treasure Self Love‘, which has been making rounds with its 11 tracks on digital streaming platforms since it went live on August 22.
The Jamaican launch event took place last Thursday (September 18) at Di Lot in St Andrew, where Lila Iké not only performed some of her hit singles, but also hugged fans and dropped autographs and words of inspiration for persons who purchased a physical hard copy of the album.
“Right now, the goal is to push this new album. Getting ready right now to do the launch here in Jamaica. I just completed the one [launch] in London, so there’s that. And then I go off on tour and a launch in New York as well,” Iké said.

This highly anticipated album was released via Wurl Ike Records and In.Digg.Nation Collective under exclusive licence to Ineffable Records. This represents Lila Iké’s first full-length album following her breakthrough 2020 EP ‘The ExPerience‘.
In a previous interview, she said the messages from the songs on ‘Treasure Self Love‘ are about her mental health journey.
“The music on this album, I went really deep and vulnerable. I spoke about some stuff that my friends probably didn’t know I was going through. I got diagnosed three or four years ago with bipolar disorder, and it was a lot to deal with, and so I opened up about that, and you know the main point is to just let other people who might be going through whatever mental issues, just know that I see you, I hear you, I understand it,” Lila Iké said.
“It’s just learning that about myself and realising that the more I speak on things like these, it’s the more I help to heal myself and others,” she said.

The tracklist from the newest album is:
Scatter,
Too Late to Lie
Sweet
Fry Plantain (feat. Joey Bada$$)
All Over the World (feat. Protoje)
Romantic (feat. Masicka)
All That and More (feat. Maverick Sabre)
He Loves Us Both (feat. H.E.R.)

Love in a Lovely Way

The launch event was also a night of enjoying reggae music, as Lila Ike said it should be, immediately after her arrival.
