Owing to a lingering trough over much of the island, the Jamaica Meteorological Service says citizens should brace for increased cloud cover as well as showers and thunderstorms today (October 23).

The Met Service, in its 5:00 am forecast on Monday, advised that isolated showers and thunderstorms are possible across north-central and eastern parishes, while it should partly cloudy elsewhere.

Skies later give way to scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms mainly across southern and northeastern parishes.

Maximum temperatures for major cities Kingston and Montego Bay are expected to soar to 33 and 34 degrees Celcius respectively.
