AKT motorcycles has made its Jamaican debut through a dealer partnership with Unicomer Jamaica Limited and its Lucky Dollar brand.

Lucky Dollar is diversifying its product line with the inclusion of messenger, sport motorbikes and scooters from the Colombian manufacturer.

The brand will initially carry five types of motorcycles, ranging between 150-200cc as they enter the automotive market.

“Lucky Dollar Furniture and Appliance store is known for delivering quality to our customers at the most affordable prices. We are committed to improving the lives of Jamaicans and we are proud to have up to 90 per cent of our products made in Jamaica, a direct investment in the country’s economy,” said brand manager Danikee Knight.

“The introduction of AKT motorbikes to the market is an extension of that commitment, by providing an affordable, reliable means of transportation. As a member of Unicomer Group, we can extend to our customers attractive financing options, warranty, post sales service by trained technicians and consistent supply of spare parts. These are key markers in the automotive trade.”

“For the local market we acknowledge the opportunity for courier, business messengers, security companies, bike rental and certainly for leisure purposes.”

Danikee Knight, brand manager for Unicomer Group

Unicomer started selling AKT motorcycles in December 2012, with Nicaragua being the first country to sell. Since then, Unicomer has sold more than 70,000 units in nine territories. The Lucky Dollar brand currently carries five models of motorcycles, ranging between 150-200cc, as they enter the automotive market. The models AK150SL Messenger, AK 150GT Messenger, AK 150DK Scooter and AK 150PW Sport were selected for the local market based on their expectation to fit the current market, and road conditions.

“For the local market we acknowledge the opportunity for courier, business messengers, security companies, bike rental and certainly for leisure purposes,” said Knight.

“This product diversification creates the opportunity for businesses and private interests to acquire quality motorbikes with trusted servicing arrangements. AKT initially brought affordable motorcycles to Colombia and have since sold more than 1.4 million cycles. As an authorised dealer, Lucky Dollar is extending that affordability to Jamaicans.”

Lucky Dollar is making it known that AKT motorbike models can be purchased by financing arrangements (between 18-36 month) at any of the 12 Lucky Dollar store locations islandwide. AKT motorbikes have a one-year manufacturer’s warranty or 12,000km (one free service, with parts and labour). Extended warranty is also available for two2 years/24,000km (two free services including parts and labour).
