A magnitude 4.2 earthquake jolted sections of Jamaica on Sunday (December 10).

According to preliminary information from the Earthquake Unit of the University of the West Indies Mona, the tremor struck around 2:02 pm local time.

The epicentre of the earthquake was pinpointed 21 kilometres northeast of Kingston.

There were no immediate reports of injuries or structural damage.
