Dancehall Week ended the only way it could—with an explosion of rhythm, energy, and unapologetic celebration at the Carousing.
As the official after-party for a week dedicated to dancehall culture, the event was more than just a capstone; it was a love letter to the genre, its movement, and the people who keep it alive.
With Magnum Tonic Wine as the title sponsor, the celebration embodied the brand’s signature grit and high-energy vibe. Following the street parade, which coursed through the Half-Way Tree area, dancehall lovers transitioned from dancing in the streets to losing themselves in the pulsating basslines and infectious riddims of the street dance.

From the jump, the night belonged to the dancers. Standing in the role of emcee for the event, Bishop Escobar challenged members of the audience to exhibit their rhythmic finesse on the stage with popular dancer and showman Maguyva stealing the show. Veteran dance crew Shady Squad also stepped onto centre stage, guiding the crowd through a choreographic time machine, each move a tribute to the dancehall eras that shaped the culture.
Brandon Wallace, Magnum Tonic Wine Brand Manager praised the dancers for their engaging performance, highlighting their showmanship, skill, and ability to captivate the audience. He commended their role in keeping the essence of dancehall alive, emphasising, “Their precision and liveliness made the patrons eager to participate, at one point blurring the lines between performers and spectators as several people climbed onto the stage, joining in a shared explosion of movement. The passion of the dancers truly embodied the spirit of the culture and aligned perfectly with our brand’s vision.”

The performances later shifted from movement to music. Pamputtae brought her signature flair and antics, commanding stage presence, setting the tone with raw, infectious confidence. Jah Vinci, ever the soulful storyteller, slowed things down with heartfelt anthems that had the crowd swaying, lighters flickering in the night air. Jamal aka 1Dunceman, a fresh yet forceful voice, delivered a set that hinted at a bright future, while the ever-enigmatic Tommy Lee Sparta cast a spell with his deep, eerie melodies, sending shockwaves through the audience. The Dancehall Week organisers also provided opportunities in between the scheduled performances for aspiring artistes to showcase their talent.

“Dancehall has always been about self-expression, energy, and unity, and tonight’s performances were a testament to that compelling magic. At Magnum, we take pride in championing dancehall culture and creating spaces where dancers, artistes, and fans can come together to celebrate what makes dancehall unique. We acknowledge that Dancehall Week needs some work, but we applaud the efforts of the organisers, the dedicated supporters and fellow sponsors such as Fame 95FM and Double Seven energy drink. The week wasn’t just about entertainment, it was an educational platform that allowed fellow champions to teach and for the attendees to learn, while celebrating dancehall as a whole,” Wallace remarked.

As the speakers blared their final riddims and the final dance moves stepped into a climax, one thing was clear, the night was one of unfiltered authenticity. Dancehall, at its core, has always been about community, about a shared rhythm that bridges generations, neighbourhoods, and social divides. Magnum Carousing street dance was exactly that.
