Members of the Firearms and Narcotics Investigation Division (FNID) and the Jamaica Customs Agency
Contraband Enforcement Team (CET) have seized 84.2 kilograms of cocaine at the Amerijet
warehouse at the Norman Manley International Airport in Kingston.

The cocaine was reprotedly concealed in 13 boxes of 2 kg Maggie seasoning, which were part of a larger shipment that included wines and beers. The seizure consisted of 78 parcels weighing approximately 84.2 kilograms (185.24 pounds) of a white powdery substance resembling cocaine.

The shipment was intercepted at approximately 10:00 am on Friday, November 22. The shipment, reportedly intended for an address in Miami, Florida, was transported from the warehouse to FNID headquarters for further investigation.

No arrests have been made.

Senior Superintendent of Police Samuel Blake has reassured the public that FNID will continue to collaborate with key partners as the Division continues to focus on those individuals and groups that pose the greatest threat to violence reduction in Jamaica by virtue of their involvement in the illicit firearms and narcotics trade.

The Commission notes that concerns regarding the integrity of sections of the pipeline were identified prior to the passage of Hurricane Melissa. Subsequent post-event assessments confirmed that approximately 3 kilometres of pipeline infrastructure were significantly impacted, necessitating extensive rehabilitation works. It is worth noting that while the substantial part of Martha Brae- Salt Marsh area has been restored, more time and resources is necessary to restore pockets of the network such as this one.
