Murder continues unabated in Jamaica even over the festive season.

Last week, we were all shocked and appalled by the slaying of lauded court reporter Barbara Gayle, murdered in her home inside  Caymanas Estate—a gated community in Spanish Town, St. Catherine.

It was a brutal killing with repeated stabbings to her neck.

On Friday (December 27), a man who rented an Airbnb accommodation in Maryfield Apartments on Marley Road, St Andrew was shot to death.

Our Today understands that the yet-to-be-identified man picked up a package from a man before the bearer allegedly opened fire on him, shooting him 15 times, including the head.

Blood pooled from his lifeless body as an apartment complex guard scurried for help, the prostrate body lying in the complex courtyard a grim reminder of the reality of life in Jamaica.

The shots were audible and rang across the vicinity drawing fear from many residents.

It is believed that the dead man was associated in some way with the Milk & Honey Party which is due to take place today.

It has not been determined whether he was due to attend the event which is popular with young revellers.

Was he someone who flew in to attend the party, renting space at  Maryfield Apartments?

There have been 70 murders in December so far.
