A 59-year-old contractor from Highgate, St Mary, reportedly wounded himself while being taken to the lock-up at the Annotto Bay Police Station following his arrest.

The Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) has since launched a probe into the reported self-inflicted injuries of the man, who was being held on a judgment warrant.

It is reported that he was being taken to the cell area when he used his head to break a glass partition, injuring himself.

He subsequently took up a piece of the broken glass and inflicted a wound to his neck.

He was subdued and taken to the Annotto Bay Hospital for treatment. His injuries are reportedly not life-threatening.

The Annotto Bay Criminal Investigations Branch is also probing the matter.
