The Manchester Chamber of Commerce recently held its awards banquet at the Golf View Hotel in
Mandeville.
As a catalyst for information and the voice of business in the parish, the Chamber recognised several entities for their stellar contribution to the community.

With the Chamber celebrating its 58th year in 2022, this event was of particular importance, in the
context of the last two years with the business community being severely impacted by the coronavirus pandemic.

Many of these businesses embraced the challenging times and seized the opportunity to innovate and create through technology.
Simone Spence-Johnson, president of the Manchester Chamber of Commerce, said the Chamber was proud of the rich history and foundation that was laid and felt the need to recognise the stalwarts in the
parish who have contributed significantly to the development of the local economy and the parish.

“Tonight we pay tribute to those who have put in the work. This year’s nominees and awardees have put systems and strategies in place that have yielded great results in their businesses and have rebounded to the betterment of the parish of Manchester. We want to say thank you for your contributions and to let you know that your efforts have not gone unnoticed,” Spence-Johnson said.
“They say encouragement sweetens labour. This is our gift to all our nominees. We want you to know that you are recognised and your invaluable contribution to the economic and social development of Manchester is greatly appreciated. You are all winners tonight.”

Held under the theme ‘Building A Better Manchester: Embracing Technology and Forging Stronger
Partnerhips’, guest speaker for the event was Matthew Samuda, state minister in the Ministry of
Economic Growth and Job Creation.
Sponsors included Flow, Blue Ember Group, National Commercial Bank, King Alarm Systems, NCU
