Manchester City Women are through to the FA Cup semifinals after grinding out a win over Birmingham City Women.
Khadija Shaw made the early breakthrough, after a clever pass across the box from Iman Beney. City controlled much of the match, limiting Birmingham’s chances, but were kept on their toes by a strong performance from the hosts.
Despite Birmingham’s pressing and attempts to catch their opponents on the counter, they struggled to truly test goalkeeper Khiara Keating. City, meanwhile, couldn’t find a second goal but did enough to avoid any late drama.
The result sets up a semifinal showdown with Chelsea Women, while Liverpool Women will face Brighton & Hove Albion Women in the other last four clash.
