Manchester farmers charged with illegal possession of firearm

Four farmers hailing from the Old England in Manchester have been charged by the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) with illegal possession of a firearm following a police search of their home.

In the aftermath of the search, the police seized a gun and several rounds of ammunition.

Charged are three males and one female. The woman, 54-year-old Sandra Golding, is the eldest of those charged. She is followed in age by 28-year-old Gregory Swaby, 25-year-old Ceejay Wilson, and 20-year-old Richard Golding. The exact charge facing these four is the possession of a prohibited weapon alongside the unauthorised possession of and usage of a premises to store firearms and ammunition.

According to the Mandeville Police, around 3:00 pm on Friday, July 26, the constabulary, in possession of a search warrant, made their way to the house of the four charged, conducting a standard search operation of the premises.

It was during this search that a Taurus 9mm firearm which was discovered, concealed underneath several articles of clothing in one of the houses’ rooms was discovered. The gun was also found to contain a loaded magazine containing ten 9mm bullets inside its chamber.

Upon the discovery of the weapon and its contents, Wilson, Swaby, and the two Goldings were immediately arrested and taken into custody. All four are now scheduled to appear before the Manchester Parish Court on Wednesday, July 31.
