Red Stripe Flavours Netball Elite League Season Opener

Manchester Spurs delivered a dominant performance to secure a 59-37 victory over Kingston Hummingbirds in the official opening match of the 2026 Red Stripe Flavours Netball Elite League at the National Indoor Sports Centre on Friday, June 5.

Backed by an enthusiastic contingent of supporters, Manchester Spurs controlled the contest from the opening whistle, displaying sharp attacking play and disciplined defence to establish an early advantage. The team maintained its intensity throughout the match, steadily extending its lead and keeping the Hummingbirds under pressure.

Kingston Hummingbirds showed resilience in the latter stages of the game, fighting hard to reduce the deficit and create opportunities in attack. Despite their efforts, Manchester Spurs remained composed and closed out the encounter with an impressive 22 goal victory.

Leading the charge for Manchester Spurs was Goal Attack Quannia Walker, whose outstanding performance earned her the first Red Stripe Flavours Player of the Match award of the 2026 season. Quinnia played a pivotal role in the team’s attacking success and was instrumental in securing the convincing win.

Manchester Spurs Head Coach Dalton Hinds expressed satisfaction with his team’s performance and the manner in which they opened their campaign.

“I am pleased with how the team started the season. The players executed well, showed great discipline and worked hard for each other throughout the match. It’s a positive start, and we’re looking forward to building on this performance and having a good season,” said Hinds.

Prior to the start of the match, Red Stripe Flavours Brand Manager Arnaldo Martin welcomed teams, officials and supporters to the new season, reaffirming the brand’s commitment to the growth of netball in Jamaica.

The opening fixture marked the beginning of another exciting season of elite netball competition, with five  teams set to battle for championship honours over the coming weeks.
