With just 13 days to go until Christmas, American singer Mariah Carey has made her way back into the Billboard Hot 100, with All I Want For Christmas Is You taking the number two spot.

As sure as the sky is blue, the Christmas classic is featured on the charts each and every year, beginning its climb as early as late October.

In a press release from Billboard, the music magazine announced today (December 12) that Carey had actually topped the charts with her Christmas classic. But, it was only short-lived, as she was dethroned by Taylor Swift’s Anti-Hero.

Currently at number two, the song is sure to reclaim its number one spot before the season is finished, beating out several recently released tracks.

The song we all know and love was first released on Carey’s album Merry Christmas in 1994, becoming a hit the moment it made it to the airwaves.

Its catchy lyrics can be heard in almost every supermarket or even on radio stations during the holiday season, reigning for three consecutive years on the charts, from 2019 to 2021.

According to Billboard, Carey’s song holds the record for most weeks in the number one spot with nine consecutive weeks. The only other holiday song to come close is Chipmunk Song by David Seville and the Chipmunks, which reigned for four weeks after its release in 1958.

To date, there are six holiday songs, inclusive of Carey’s All I Want For Christmas Is You, in the Billboard Hot 100 top 10 slots.

These include Brenda Lee’s Rockin Around The Christmas Tree in the number three spot, Jingle Bell Rock by Bobby Helm at number five, A Holly Jolly Christmas by Burl Ives at number six, Andy Williams’ It’s The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year at number nine and Last Christmas by Wham closing out the top 10.
