In a spirited candidate presentation held on Sunday, November 3, at the Annotto Bay Primary School, Mark Golding, leader of the People’s National Party (PNP), introduced Christopher Brown as the party’s candidate for the upcoming general elections in Southeast St. Mary.
Both leaders emphasised their commitment to revitalising the constituency and addressing the urgent needs of its residents.
Golding expressed a resolute vision for the future, stating, “Comrades, we want this constituency of Southeast St. Mary back in the column of the People’s National Party. We don’t want one; we don’t want two; we want all three in St. Mary. We want to see development come to the parish, and we need the South East to be uplifted. It can’t be at the back of the line.”

He underscored the potential of South East St. Mary in tourism, agriculture, and other industries, calling on supporters to “deliver Chris Brown to Gordon House” so they can work together in government.
Golding criticised the current administration for failing to provide the necessary governance, education, and health services that the people of Jamaica deserve.
Christopher Brown, echoing Golding’s sentiments, highlighted the pressing challenges facing South East St. Mary.
“There’s a lot of despair in the seat. We are the poorest constituency in St. Mary,” he noted. Brown condemned the lack of progress under the Jamaica Labour Party, stating, “A small clique is benefiting while the rest are left behind. The roads are bad, and residents are crying out for help.”

Brown emphasised that infrastructure improvements are crucial for economic growth. “If you want jobs, you have to fix the roads.
Businesses will only invest in the Southeast when we have good infrastructure, telecommunications, and water supply,” he said, outlining a strategic vision for modernisation.
Both leaders left the audience inspired and determined, promising to work tirelessly for the people of southeast St. Mary and to bring about the change that residents have been longing for.
