France captain Kylian Mbappe has reportedly sustained a broken nose during his side’s 1-0 victory over Austria at Euro 2024.
The injury occurred in the 90th minute of the match when Mbappe collided violently with Austrian defender Kevin Danso while vying for an aerial ball.
Blood was seen pouring from his nose as he lay prone in the opposition box.
The incident initially went unnoticed by the officials, and play continued until Austria goalkeeper Patrick Pentz alerted the referee to Mbappe’s condition.
Despite his efforts to return to the game, Mbappe was shown a yellow card for re-entering the field without permission. He was subsequently substituted, with veteran forward Olivier Giroud replacing him.
