Telemedicine platform MDLink Limited hosted its fifth annual Christmas charity luncheon on December 12, at the Sir John Golding Rehabilitation Centre.

The event catered to approximately 70 disabled patients and healthcare staff who tirelessly care for them, spreading holiday cheer and appreciation.

The Sir John Golding Rehabilitation Centre has long been a beacon of hope, offering critical care and support for individuals with physical disabilities, helping them regain independence and improve their quality of life.

Many patients at the centre are unable to go home for the holidays, and this event brings much-needed joy, connection, and a festive spirit to brighten their season.

The charity was founded by Dr Ché Bowen, inspired by his rotations at the rehabilitation centre during medical school.

Witnessing the resilience of disabled patients, especially children, he began hosting Christmas luncheons to bring joy to those who couldn’t spend the holidays at home with their families.

Originally launched through his role as special projects coordinator for the Jamaica Medical Students’ Association, the initiative was later reintroduced through MDLink to continue its legacy of compassion and community care.

The event featured an atmosphere of fellowship and celebration. Guests enjoyed a delicious Jamaican Christmas meal, with everyone clad in Santa hats to add to the festive cheer.

Following the luncheon, the festivities began with patients and staff singing, dancing, and participating in fun games with prizes. This annual tradition has become a cherished highlight for the MDLink team, who take great pride and joy in creating memorable experiences for all attendees.
