Daniil Medvedev endured a nightmare outing at the Monte Carlo Masters on Wednesday, completely crashing out after a crushing defeat to Matteo Berrettini.

The former world number one lost 6-0, 6-0 in just 49 minutes which was his first professional match without winning a single game. Frustration boiled over midway through the contest, as Medvedev repeatedly smashed his racket against the clay before tossing it away, drawing a code violation for unsportsmanlike conduct and likely a hefty fine.

It was a tough return to clay for Medvedev, who struggled throughout with his serve, managing just 17 points and landing only 36 percent of his first serves. The defeat, often referred to as a double bagel, adds to a list of on court outbursts that have cost him heavily in fines in the past.
