Meta Platforms Inc., the parent company of Facebook, unveiled new updates for Messenger on Tuesday (April 9) that aim to enhance how users interact, share content, and connect with others.
Among the headline updates, users can now seamlessly group photos and videos within chats as shared albums.
This new functionality streamlines the process of organising pictures and videos making it easier for users to navigate and locate specific images or videos shared within chat groups. Users can effortlessly select multiple photos, compile them into an album, and assign a custom name for easy identification.

In addition to shared albums, Messenger now supports the transmission of larger files, with a cap of up to 100MB in size. This expansion in file size allowance means users can share a wider variety of content directly within their chats, including documents, spreadsheets, and presentations, without the need for external platforms or email attachments.
Furthermore, users can now enjoy enhanced visual clarity with the introduction of high-definition (HD) photo-sharing capabilities, similar to the feature implemented on WhatsApp last year.
Messenger has integrated QR code functionality, allowing users to add new contacts by scanning QR codes or sharing their code via a link to eliminate the need to manually enter contact details.
