Lionel Messi showed up in what might likely be his final home appearance for Argentina, scoring once and setting up another in a 5-0 thrashing of Zambia ahead of the World Cup. 

The 38-year-old superstar created an early goal for Julián Álvarez in the fourth minute and found the net himself in the 43rd.

The victory offered a boost after a shaky 2-1 win over Mauritania, with coach Lionel Scaloni warning that the World Cup squad could face tough changes if performances didn’t improve. Argentina will open their title defense on June 16^th against Algeria in Group J, followed by matches against Austria on June 22^nd  and Jordan on June 27^th , with fans hoping Messi can lead them to another World Cup triumph.
