Paris St Germain forward Lionel Messi was suspended for two weeks due to an unauthorized two-day trip to Saudi Arabia.

This means that the Argentine will miss the upcoming Ligue 1 matches against Troyes and Ajaccio. However he may return for the match with Auxerre on May 21.

The news was reported by French sports daily L’Equipe today (May 2).

During his suspension, Messi will not be training or playing with his team. He will also see a deduction in his pay.

The proclaimed ‘greatest of all time’ (G.O.A.T) player had recently led his home country’s football team to victory at the 2022 winter World Cup in Qatar.

Argentina faced off against France in a thrilling final match that came down to penalty kicks. Both teams were tied with three goals each. However the Argentinian team, captained by Messi, came out victorious with four penalty kicks compared to France’s two.
