Lionel Messi and Inter Miami will make their debut in the team’s new stadium on April 4, a standout moment in the 2026 Major League Soccer (MLS) schedule.

The season kicks off on February 21 and runs through November 7, with that being the final campaign under the current February to November format.

MLS will switch to a summer-to-spring calendar starting with the 2027–28 season, with a shortened transitional season in 2027.

Inter Miami begins 2026 with five straight away games, giving extra time to finish Miami Freedom Park near Miami International Airport. The team’s home opener comes against Austin FC. Messi, who recently signed a three-year extension through 2028, is confirmed to be on hand for the stadium debut.

Miami Freedom Park will be the first of three new MLS stadiums over three seasons, followed by New York City FC’s Etihad Park in 2027 and a new downtown venue for Chicago Fire FC in 2028.
