Jamaicans get a much-needed reprieve from the oppressive sun and humid conditions Monday (May 31), as a trough becomes the major weather influence over the island.

According to a 5:00 am local time forecast by the Jamaica Meteorological Service, the trough is expected to persist over the island for the next few days.

It should be partly cloudy across most sections of Jamaica this morning, with cool showers mainly over central and western parishes. Isolated thunderstorms could be in store for the island’s hilly interior.

In its three day outlook, the Met Office forecasts afternoon showers across most parishes on Tuesday, with isolated thunderstorms mainly across northern parishes.

For Wednesday and Thursday, cloudy conditions will continue with showers and thunderstorms across most parishes during the afternoon.
