Meta is set to test over 20 new applications of generative AI, aiming to elevate user experiences on Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, and WhatsApp spanning areas such as search functionality, social discovery, advertising, and business messaging.

Meta AI, the virtual assistant powering a multitude of interactions on Facebook and Instagram, is receiving an upgrade. Users can now expect more detailed responses on mobile, accurate summaries in search results, and an expanded range of assistance.

The popular text-to-image generation feature, “imagine,” is expanding its reach. Available in the US at imagine.meta.com, any user can utilise Emu, Meta’s image foundation model to generate images.

Meta AI on Messenger and Instagram now allows users to collaboratively generate images using a new feature called “reimagine.” Users can create an initial image, and friends can add their creative touch by providing text prompts, resulting in a continuous exchange of imaginative visuals.

In tandem, Meta is also introducing invisible watermarking to the ‘imagine with Meta AI’ experience, enhancing transparency and traceability of AI-generated images as part of its commitment to responsible AI use.

Reels, a popular feature for content discovery, is now being integrated into Meta AI chats. This allows users to explore new content, connect with creators, and find inspiration directly within their conversations. Whether planning a trip or sharing recommendations, Reels in Meta AI offer a more immersive experience.

Meta is also testing a ‘suggested replies in direct messages (DMs)’ feature on Instagram, in a move to assist content creators. Creators can engage with their audiences more efficiently as Meta AI drafts relevant replies based on tone and content.
