Microsoft has unveiled today (June 29) a series of innovative AI-powered shopping tools for its Bing search engine and Bing AI chatbot integrated within the Edge browser.
One of the standout additions is Bing’s GPT-powered AI capabilities that automatically generate buying guides based on user queries. By simply inputting a search term such as “office equipment,” Bing will aggregate relevant products, furnish detailed specifications for easy comparison, and provide purchasing options.
These new features are aimed at simplifying the buying process and providing users with comprehensive information and assistance.

While the emergence of Microsoft’s comprehensive buying guides will likely impact existing platforms specializing in this domain, the move is expected to usher in a new era of high-quality shopping content, eliminating the prevalence of low-quality, SEO-optimized material that often hampers consumer decision-making. This development is anticipated to inspire other search engines, including Google, to follow suit.
The newly introduced buying guides are now accessible in the United States, with plans for a global rollout across the Edge browser initiated today.
In addition to the buying guides, Microsoft has also launched AI-generated review summaries worldwide. This feature streamlines the process of obtaining product insights by consolidating online reviews. Users can simply ask Bing Chat in Edge to summarize public sentiment surrounding a particular item, and the AI-powered tool will generate a concise overview, saving time and effort.
Furthermore, Microsoft’s Price Match tool presents another valuable addition to its repertoire. This feature enables users to request price matches from retailers, even after a price drop. Microsoft has already partnered with several prominent U.S. retailers that have existing price match policies, and plans to expand these partnerships in the future.
