American pop icon Miley Cyrus got choked up on her famous song, Wrecking Ball, during the NFL Tik Tok Tailgate performance on Sunday (February 7).

The singer, songwriter and actress stepped on all necks of fashionistas for her pregame performance; she did not come to play.

She entered the stage, and graced the screens in a pink and black leather cheerleading uniform before changing to a sequin football jersey and white cropped pants.

Cyrus is known for giving stellar performances.

She invited Joan Jett and Billy Idol to accompany her on stage, blessing the audience with their dynamic performances.

However, while performing the Wrecking Ball, she got choked up during the third verse of the song.

The hit song that was released in 2013 is said to have been written about her ex-husband Liam Hemsworth, after they called off their engagement.

The then couple was considered more than a ‘power-duo’ – they were considered ‘end game’ – by fans all over, thought their relationship would have been happily ever after.

At one point, while Cyrus struggled to sing the lyrics, saying “it never gets easier”.

She paused at the crack of her voice, after singing the line “Don’t you ever think, I just walked away, I will always want you,” missing part of the chorus

Cyrus, like a true star that she is, then composed herself and finished the song before telling the audience: “I wear a lot of glitter and I wear a lot of armor, but I also wear my heart on my sleeve, and it gets broken a lot.”

Thing is, Hemsworth and Cyrus had a 10-year on-and-off relationship, before completely calling it quits in 2019, after less than a year of marriage.

It doesn’t matter what went down, it’s just obvious that Cyrus still and will always have endless love for Hemsworth.

She recently said on The Howard Stern Show that she still had feelings of love for her ex.

“And I really do and did love him very, very, very much and still do, always will.”

Therefore, even the strenuous, hardcore performance rehearsals can’t prepare you for emotions sometimes.

Just have to stay strong and keep singing – like she always does!
