Tourism Minister Edmund Bartlett has applauded tourism workers and partners for their contribution to the industry’s recovery after the passage of Hurricane Beryl early last month.

“I want to express my deepest gratitude for the extraordinary dedication and service of our tourism workers and industry partners for the strong recovery of the country’s tourism sector. It is because of everyone’s steadfast dedication to ensuring the island could mitigate the impact that we have managed to welcome over two hundred and forty thousand stopover arrivals despite this disruption,” said Minister Bartlett.

He highlighted that this shows a strong sign of recovery and that while the country still builds back better from the aftermath of the hurricane, Jamaica remains open for business to welcome visitors.

“The collaboration shown post Beryl is a testament to the resilience of our tourism industry. I must single out the dedication of our workers, who were also impacted by the storm but went above and beyond to ensure visitor safety. And to or industry partners who immediately supported relief efforts to ensure Jamaica reopened for business, I truly commend your efforts,” added Minister Bartlett.

“As we continue to rebuild in some areas, we will ensure that brand Jamaica remains top of mind and that visitors continue to immerse themselves in authentic experiences,” expressed director of Tourism, Donovan White.

The island has seen robust arrivals and earnings figures this year and has a target of welcoming five million visitors by 2025.
