Minister Grange hails Fayval Williams as an ‘inspiration’ following appointment as first female finance minister

Minister of Culture, Gender, Entertainment, and Sport, Olivia Grange, has praised the appointment of Fayval Williams as the country’s new minister of finance as an “inspiration and shining example to the nation”.

Following her historic appointment as the first woman to hold this position, Grange expressed immense pride in Williams’ achievement, highlighting its significance for the advancement of women in Jamaica.

Minister Grange said she was “extremely proud of Minister Williams’ historic elevation”, adding that it was a “most significant achievement in the changing status of women in our country and their contribution to building Jamaica”.

Grange said that Williams has proven competent and effective in her duties and will be a smart head and steady hand in the management of the nation’s finances.

She noted that Williams has shattered the glass ceiling, paving the way for future generations of women.

“By… sheer hard work, courage, and commitment to duty, Minister Williams has achieved and has paved the way for other women to rise. She is an inspiration to women and girls everywhere to pursue their ambitions, hopes, and dreams without limits,” said Grange.
