Minister of Health and Wellness, Dr Christopher Tufton, has lauded the newly inaugurated Oasis Imaging and MRI Centre, describing the facility as an important addition to Jamaica’s healthcare landscape and commending its investment in advanced diagnostic technology, compassionate customer service and high-quality patient care.

Delivering the keynote address at the inauguration of the Centre, Minister Tufton praised Oasis Imaging Centre’s commitment to combining cutting-edge technology with a patient-first approach.

“I want to commend Oasis’ CEO, Dr. Ravi Prakash Sangappa. His remarks today went beyond showcasing the advanced technology and the wide range of services the Centre offers. He placed equal emphasis on the importance of customer service,” the Minister said.

He noted that while advanced technology is critical, the testimonials shared during the ceremony demonstrated that compassionate service remains equally important.

“Service with compassion, service with care is a very important mantra… I commend you, and I suspect your success is partly also due to that.”

The newly opened facility, which is located at 65 1⁄2 Half-Way Tree Road, is equipped with state-of-the-art AI-enabled diagnostic imaging technology and offers 24- 48-hour access to MRI services, significantly improving access to timely diagnostic care. The Centre also provides CT scans, digital X-rays, ultrasound, mammography and other imaging services designed to support faster, more accurate diagnoses for patients across Jamaica.

His Excellency Mayank Joshi, High Commissioner of India to Jamaica, described the investment as a timely contribution to Jamaica’s healthcare system, particularly as demand continues to grow for advanced diagnostic services.

“The growing burden of non-communicable diseases and the demand for advanced diagnostic services, including AI-enabled diagnostic services, makes investment in modern healthcare infrastructure increasingly important,” he said.

He added that the establishment of Oasis Imaging Centre “represents a timely and valuable contribution, strengthening Jamaica’s diagnostic capabilities and complementing the country’s ongoing efforts to provide accessible, high-quality healthcare for all.”

Founded in 2014, Oasis has grown from its Spanish Town operations into a trusted provider of diagnostic imaging services. The new Kingston facility represents the company’s latest investment in expanding access to advanced medical imaging through modern technology while maintaining affordable, patient-centred care.

Chief Executive Officer Dr. Ravi Prakash Sangappa said the company’s decision to invest in brand-new AI-powered equipment reflects its commitment to delivering the highest standard of diagnostic imaging.

“We are affordable, but we also wanted the best quality images,” Dr. Prakash explained following the ceremony. “If we had bought used machines, they would not provide the image quality we wanted. We invested in new AI-enabled equipment because high-quality images help radiologists make more accurate diagnoses.”

The new technology delivers high-resolution images while reducing MRI scan times by as much as 50 to 60 percent, significantly improving patient comfort and allowing the Centre to serve more people efficiently. The upgraded systems also expand diagnostic capabilities to include specialised prostate MRI and breast imaging, while similar AI technology has already been introduced at the company’s Spanish Town location.

Reflecting on the significance of the occasion, Dr. Prakash said the opening represented more than the launch of a new medical facility.

“Today, we opened more than a facility. We strengthen our commitment to delivering advanced diagnostic services that support better outcomes and improve healthcare across Jamaica.”

He added that Oasis remains committed to treating every patient with compassion, integrity and dignity.

“May the Centre serve Jamaica with excellence, integrity, innovation and compassion for many years to come. May it become a place where every patient is treated with kindness, every diagnosis is delivered with accuracy and every member of our team is inspired to make a meaningful difference.”

The inauguration brought together government officials, members of the diplomatic corps, healthcare professionals, business leaders and partners to celebrate what Oasis describes as another milestone in its mission to improve access to advanced diagnostic imaging and support better health outcomes for Jamaicans.
