Ministry of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport donates $20 million to aid in the return of Racers Grand Prix

The Ministry of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport is welcoming the return Racers Grand Prix with a $20 million donation after a two-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Sports Minister, Olivia Grange made the announcement on her social media page on Wednesday (April 5).

The premier track and field set to take place on Saturday (June 3) boast an excellent lineup of both local and international athletes such as 200 m world champion Sherika Jackson, world 200 m champion Noah Lyles, world 100m hurdles champion Tobi Amusan, and among others.

“My Ministry has been supportive of Racers Track Club Grand Prix from day one and our support continues with the Ministry giving Racers 20 Million Dollars ($20M) as our contribution to this year’s renewal,” the sports minister said.

Track and Field fans will be able to purchase tickets in the first week of May. Additional information about the meet can be obtained on the Racers Grand Prix website or social media pages.

Racers Grand Prix was first held in 2016.

The meet is held to aid in the development of Jamaica’s athletics and that of the Racers Track & Field Club.
