Amid questions around the mystery of Jamaican sprint legend Usain Bolt’s account at Stocks and Securities Limited (SSL), and in line with the Government’s promise of transparency in the ongoing fraud case, the temporary manager appointed by the Financial Services Commission (FSC) has confirmed the existence of an account in the name of a limited liability company (LLC) belonging to the athletics icon.

Dr Nigel Clarke, minister of finance and the public service, shared the message on his Twitter page on Tuesday (January 24).

The message, in the form of a statement from the Office of the Minister of Finance and the Public Service, reads: “The temporary manager of Stocks and Securities Limited (SSL) appointed by the Financial Services Commission (FSC) has confirmed to me the existence of an account at SSL in the name of a limited liability company (LLC) owned by ambassador Usain Bolt. He has further confirmed to me that this account dates back to 2012.”

With claims over the weekend that at least two former CEOs of SSL were unaware that Bolt had an account at the investment company, speculation had begun to circulate around the possibility that the funds thought to have been invested might never have been.

However, any thought that Bolt had been scammed even before his money was placed in the investment company have now been put to bed.
