The Miss Jamaica World and Mr. World Jamaica pageants launched with an exciting weekend of competition, setting the stage for what promises to be a thrilling journey to the grand coronation in September.

The action began early last Saturday morning (August 10) as the Miss Jamaica World contestants gathered at Emancipation Park for the Ministry of Health and Wellness/Jamaica Moves fitness challenge.

With the sun just rising, the ladies pushed through a series of gruelling exercises designed to test their endurance, strength, and determination. Chri-Shann Grant emerged as the top performer, impressing everyone with her stamina and focus. Tahjé Bennett and Lianne Fullwood also shone, taking second and third places, respectively.

Sunday saw the Mr. World Jamaica contestants take on the AHF Jamaica-sponsored extreme sports challenge at Hope Gardens.

The event was a test of agility, strength, and mental toughness.

Tarique Brown took first place, showcasing his physical prowess, while Gladstone Johnson and Tavar Brown proved they were not far behind, securing the second and third positions.

These fast-track events are not just for show; they are key in determining which contestants advance to the semifinals. Points earned in these events, combined with the Preliminary Interview scores, help narrow down the field. Franchise holder Dahlia Harris couldn’t be more pleased with this year’s group of contestants. “The level of talent and potential we’re seeing is remarkable,” Harris noted. “I’m confident they’ll make a strong impact on the international stage and represent Jamaica with pride.”

As the competition heats up, fans are encouraged to support their favourite contestants by attending upcoming fast track events.

The next big event is the talent competition, which will take place this Friday, (August 17), at the Little Theatre at 7:00 pm.
