Come tomorrow (September 15), either a marginal cost increase or sustained price drop will greet Jamaicans at the pumps, as Petrojam unveils the latest update to its closely watched pricing regimen.
According to the State-owned refinery, 87-octane gasolene will cost 25 cents more than last week, closing at a new baseline price of J$197.41. The price increase was also applied to 90-octane gasolene and kerosene oil, which will now sell for 25 cents and $2.57 more respectively as of September 15. It is the first increase in the octane category of fuels since August 18, 2022.
On the other hand, all other major products on Petrojam’s petroleum pricing index enjoyed another week of rollbacks.
Automotive diesel and its ultra-low sulphur counterpart enjoy a second consecutive $4.50 reduction in costs.
Retailers islandwide are expected to add their markups to the announced prices.
