Promising young coach Andrew Peart is the new technical of Montego Bay United while former national Striker Paul ‘Tegat’ Davis returns as head coach the club announced on Monday night.

“With the abrupt departure of Rodolfo Zapata, Montego Bay United has taken the opportunity to strategically strengthen its leadership by appointing a dynamic duo that blends experience with fresh vision,” said the club chairman Yoni Epstein in a statement posted on social media.

“As at February 18, for the remainder of the season and beyond, we welcome home club legend and one of Jamaica’s greatest strikers, Paul ‘Tegat’ Davis returning as head coach,” Epstein continued. “We also welcome the highly accomplished coach Andrew Peart the decorated Glenmuir High head coach as our technical director.”

The 35-year-old Peart was in 2021 appointed head of coaching education at the Jamaica Football Federation (JFF).

Peart is the head coach of Glenmuir High School which he led to back-to-back all-island Champions Cup titles.

He previously coached at Jamaica College, Humble Lion, Barbican FC and the University of the West Indies. He is also the current Jamaica Under-15 coach.

Meanwhile, the 62-year-old Davis who represented Seba United before it was renamed Montego Bay United, first coached the club in 2016 and again in 2022. This will be his third stint as coach.

He has 18 goals for Jamaica from 61 games between 1982-2003 which was once the record.

He played for Israeli club Maccabi Netanya between 1986-1990 and Beitar Jerusalem on loan in 1990.

Davis has been around, coaching at Arnett Gardens, Mount Pleasant PA and Rusea’s High School in recent times.

Montego Bay United are currently sitting in third spot on 48 points in the Jamaican Premier League courtesy of 14 wins, six defeats and four drawn games from 24 games. Mount Pleasant PA leads with 58 ahead of Arnett Garden with 51 points.
