MoneyGram services have been restored in Jamaica as the global network outage which resulted in the disruption of services has been resolved.
The Bank of Jamaica (BOJ) in a release advised that customers of the remittance services provider can now send and receive funds through primary agents’ outlets.
The central bank on Monday informed the public that MoneyGram Payment Systems Inc was experiencing a global network outage, thus rendering their services temporarily unavailable. As a result, primary agents that offer MoneyGram services could not facilitate sending remittances abroad or disbursing remittance proceeds to recipients in Jamaica.
“Primary agents have confirmed that they are in close communication with MoneyGram, and will resume operations as soon as MoneyGram advises that services have been restored. In the interim, customers have the option of conducting remittance transfers through other overseas remittance service providers utilised by primary agents in Jamaica,” the BOJ advisory issued on Monday stated.
The bank has provided a list of available remittance outlets, including MoneyGram primary agents, on its website.
