Jamaican investment firm MoneyMasters Limited (MML) will be diving into the current global geopolitical tensions and its effects by hosting an online forum under the topic ‘the impact of the United States banking collapse on the domestic financial sector, stock market and interest rates’.

The client forum, the fourth session in a series first, will be held on Thursday (June 22) via Zoom, with the aim of providing insights on how the current banking crisis in the United States may affect the Jamaican market from an investment standpoint.

Since March of this year, three US banks have collapsed – Silicon Valley Bank on March 10; Signature Bank on March 12; and First Republic on May 1 and, according to the National Bureau of Economic Research, recent bank asset value declines have made the American banking system vulnerable.

Claudette Crooks, director and president of MML, shared that while the forum’s focus is about unraveling the complexities of the geo-political tensions, interest and inflation rate it focuses investors on making wise financial decisions in an unpredictable climate. It also brings to the fore that MML, an asset management firm, and all entities must seek to thrive in all environments.

“MoneyMasters has always had a passion for sharing financial knowledge and the forum is another outpouring of this desire” said Crooks.

“The local financial sector directly feeds off of what happens internationally and so to understand their return on investments (ROI), investors must seek insights on how to navigate the volatilities faced.” she continued.

Mark Scott, principal advisor and partner at Trinvest Advisors LLC. in the United States, is slated as the forum’s guest speaker.

“With investments comes some risks, but there are always mitigating strategies. We want investors to be aware of the state of the market but we also want them to leave the forum with a plan that works for them based on the insights provided by our experts,” she shared.
