The Montego Bay Convention Centre earned the coveted title of ‘Best Venue for Meetings & Conferences’ (Caribbean) at the 2025 PATWA International Travel Awards at ITB Berlin.

This recognition underscores the centre’s continued commitment to excellence, innovation, and world-class event hosting on the global stage.

Adding to this milestone, Mureen James, executive director of the Montego Bay Convention Centre, was also honoured with the PATWA Gold Award for hospitality operations (Caribbean), a testament to her visionary leadership, strategic innovation, and outstanding contributions to Jamaica’s tourism and events industry.

Global recognition at ITB Berlin

Held at ITB Berlin, the world’s largest travel trade show, the PATWA International Travel Awards celebrate excellence and leadership in the global travel and tourism industry.

The wins have solidified Jamaica’s standing as a leading hub for meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions (MICE).

“Our mission has always been to position Jamaica as the premier choice for international conferences, corporate retreats, and large-scale events,” said James.

“This award is not just a win for MBCC, but for the entire Caribbean MICE industry. It reaffirms that we are delivering exceptional experiences that meet and exceed global standards. We remain committed to elevating our offerings, driving innovation, and expanding international partnerships.”

Denar Brown, director of sales, marketing and events, echoed this sentiment: “Winning this award at ITB Berlin, among the most influential players in global travel and tourism, is a defining moment for MBCC and Jamaica. Our presence at ITB was not just about recognition—It was about forging meaningful business relationships, securing new opportunities, and demonstrating why Jamaica is the go-to destination for MICE events. We are continuously enhancing our facilities, services, and sustainability initiatives to attract top-tier international events, and this award fuels that momentum.”
