Project Star is a wonderful initiative to help the welfare of inner-city communities in Jamaica.

It was created by the Private Sector Organisation of Jamaica (PSOJ) in partnership with the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) in an effort to bring about societal transformation through targeted interventions in under-resourced areas of Jamaica.

A cocktail reception was held at the Kingston residence of the Dominican Republic Ambassador to Jamaica, Angie Martinez earlier this week, to highlight the work of Project Star.

Project Star has launched its Social Initial Public Offering on the Jamaica Social Stock Exchange (JSSE). The aim is to raise $100 million to fund this initiative.

Speaking at the event Ambassador Angie Martinez said: “Individuals and companies present here today, I urge you to do everything within your power to support this social IPO and help Project Star exceed its intended goal.

“ Investing in Project Star goes beyond financial returns. The dividends we seek are the transformation of lives. By investing in this initiative, we are investing in the future of Jamaica. We have the power to make a difference in the lives of people and reduce levels of violence and create safer and more resilient communities.

“Your donation, no matter the amount, can improve lives and transform communities.

“Let us be united in our determination to make this social change a reality. Together we can create a brighter, more prosperous Jamaica for all, a place where people can work do business and raise their families.”
