Senior Member of the Jamaica Labour Party’s Communication taskforce, Marlon Morgan, at the mass rally on Sunday, delivered a passionate call to action, urging Jamaicans of every background to rally behind the JLP and secure the nation’s future.

“Guys, one of the things we have to appreciate, one of the things we have to understand is that when we assemble in this fashion as a Labour Party family, we’re not only speaking to ourselves,” Morgan said. “We’re speaking to PNP supporters, many of whom are taking time to come onto the winning team, the better team, but we’re also speaking to the rest of Jamaica in general.”

In a strategic outreach to undecided and uncommitted voters, Morgan added that he’s speaking to uncommitted voters and the undecided voters.

Marlon further expressed that the party’s newly launched manifesto is the “mother of all manifestos”—a bold, far-reaching document filled with practical solutions and national ambition.

“Our manifesto is not some little chaka chaka document,” he said. “Our manifesto Labourites, is not some little dibby dibby fly-by-night document. Our manifesto is a credible and compelling vision as to where we in the great Jamaica Labour Party intend to take this country over the next five years.”

Among the cornerstone promises, Marlon outlined:

  • Pensions for Farmers: “We are coming to our farmers with a pension scheme.”
  • Support for Young Mothers: “We are going to be providing support for child care so that you can go and access the training programme at HEART so that your child-rearing and child-bearing doesn’t have to stand between you and your professional development.”
  • Tax Relief for Workers: “We are committing to reduce the base rate of the income tax from the existing 25 per cent to 15 per cent.”

Morgan also announced the JLP plans for Jamaica’s elderly population—pledging increased protections and benefits in a potential third term.

“Our seniors, the people who we now celebrate and take care of as our elders, are the people who took care of us when we could not take care of ourselves,” he said. “For our seniors, we are not only ensuring that you pay no income tax on your sources of income up to $6 million, we are also, in our third term of office, going to be instituting a national health insurance for you, the senior citizens of Jamaica.”
