Minister without portfolio in the Office of the Prime Minister with responsibility for information Robert Morgan is pushing for the establishment of a Caribbean Community Information Ministers’ forum.

Morgan told Prime Minister of Guyana, Brigadier Mark Phillips that this is a necessity for the region.

Morgan, was on a working mission to Guyana last week drew a parallel with his proposed forum with that of the existing CARICOM forum of Foreign Ministers, which addresses regional foreign policy and community governance.

He underscored the potential for Information Ministers to collaborate on unified policies like with what exists with regional Foreign Ministers.

During the meeting, Morgan reaffirmed Jamaica’s unwavering support for Guyana, particularly regarding its border dispute with Venezuela while lauding the Caribbean/South American country’s historical friendship with Jamaica.

He pledged Jamaica’s continued solidarity and assistance to Guyana.

Phillips also highlighted Jamaica’s pivotal role as a staunch ally on the regional and international stage. Prime Minister Phillips echoed Morgan’s sentiments, advocating for broader cooperation among CARICOM information ministers.

As a symbolic gesture of friendship and cultural exchange, Morgan presented the Guyanese Prime Minister Phillips with the book ‘Jamaica: Heritage in Pictures.’
