It’s Thursday (May 6) and I bet you, yes you, didn’t remember the celebrations of Mother’s Day and that it is just three days away from this Sunday (May 9).

Mother’s Day is a celebration glorifying the mothers of families, as well as appreciating motherhood, maternal bonds, and the influence of mothers in society.

Truth be told, mothers shouldn’t be forgotten or disregarded. After all, they are the reasons you and I are here today.

Our Today thought it great to nudge you some gift ideas for the Queen who birthed you:

Store-bought gifts

  • A simple kitchen gift, for moms who like to cook, or consider a new recipe book.
  • For healthier meals, you can consider a slow cooker or air fryer.
  • For moms who spend hours on their feet working, a gift card to an Airbnb property would be considerate.
  • You can never go wrong with planning a dinner and gifting her jewellery… yes, jewellery.
  • If your mom is a tech enthusiast, get her mother some Air Pods and trust me, they will never leave her ears.

DIY gifts

  • Genie day! Give mommy a much-needed break, let her do whatever she wants. Yes, guys, that includes doing her chores and getting the groceries.
  • For moms who have a garden and enjoys cultivating, spend some time in the garden learning about their favourite types of flowers or just help where needed.
  • The mason jar idea! Gift her a mason jar and make its exterior as creative as possible and fill it with little notes of reasons she deserves to be showered with love.
  • A simple picture frame also works. Never mind the ‘simple’ nature, depending on the type of mother you have, you should know her likes and dislikes and design it accordingly. Don’t forget to flood the frame with memories.
  • For the super-busy bees, the quickest, most creative idea is to get a little metal bucket, paint it in mom’s favourite colour, then fill it with soil. If you see where this is going, you’re making a flower pot for your mother that she can hang up or place anywhere. Start with getting the pans, and don’t forget to print “Happy Mother’s Day” around the circumference of the pan.
