A motorist narrowly escaped serious injury on Monday night after two gunmen opened fire on his vehicle during an attempted carjacking on Grove Road in Mandeville, police say.

Preliminary reports are that sometime after 9:00 pm, the motorist was parked along Grove Road when two men approached the vehicle and demanded that he exit and give them the vehicle. Police said the motorist sped off. The two gunmen opened gunfire on the vehicle, damaging it.

Police are theorising that the gunmen are suspects in the Manchester Road double murder on Monday night.
