Following the success of its previous screening of ‘The M Factor: Shredding the Silence on Menopause, MPower Jamaica will host the Caribbean premiere of ‘The M Factor 2’ on Saturday (March 14) in Kingston.

The screening will be followed by a live Q&A with Emmy and Peabody Award-winning filmmaker Jacoba Atlas (also known as Coby Atlas), writer-director of both The M Factor films, and leading Jamaican obstetrician-gynaecologist and menopause specialist Dr Astrid Batchelor.

The event will be hosted by MPower Jamaica, including co-founders and creative partners Leisha Wong and Elena Lynch of Elle Creative, occupational therapist Sacha Chung, and fitness instructor and women’s health advocate Jodi Mair.

Building on the global impact of the original film, which screened in more than 50 countries, The M Factor 2 continues the groundbreaking work of its predecessor by exposing the silence surrounding perimenopause, the transitional stage before menopause that affects women’s physical, mental, and emotional health.

The documentary features leading experts, everyday women, and male partners, highlighting how early awareness, prevention, and education can transform lifelong health outcomes.

Often starting in a woman’s late 30s to early 40s, perimenopause remains widely misunderstood, yet its impact is profound, from brain fog, weight and hormone fluctuations, and skin or hair changes, to emotional, mental, and spiritual stresses, and even increased risk for breast cancer.

“I want every younger woman to know that perimenopause is coming if you are lucky enough, and there are ways to not suffer, and we have them for you, ” says Tamsen Fadal, advocate, producer and contributor to The M Factor Film.

The film challenges the longstanding culture of silence surrounding midlife women’s health and emphasises that informed decision-making today can support the life and health women want for the future.

“Through this screening, MPower Jamaica continues its mission to educate and support women, particularly those with limited access to reliable information, so they can understand their bodies and advocate for their long-term health, ” said the organisers.
