JETS Limited, the operator of the MultiLink Debit Network, has advised the public in a social media post that, due to the passage of Hurricane Melissa across Jamaica, service on its network will temporarily be suspended.
MultiLink allows individuals to use their debit cards to withdraw cash using automated banking machines (ABMs) or make purchases at point-of-sale (POS) terminals irrespective of the issuing financial institution. JETS said the suspension of services, which began as of 7:00 pm on Monday, October 27, is a precautionary measure.
“Customers of all member institutions, will therefore be unable to use the cross-bank service for ABMs or Point-of-Sale terminals. JETS Limited wishes to reassure the public that the service will be restored as soon as it is safe to do so following the passage of the hurricane,” the MultiLink operator shared.

JETS also encourages all Jamaicans to take every precaution for safety to minimise loss of life and property.
So far, Sagicor Bank, JN Bank, National Commercial Bank, and Scotiabank Jamaica have informed their respective cardholders that debit cards can only be used at the same ABMs and point of sale machines as the issuing bank due to the suspension of multilink services.
