Murder figures since start of 2024 on par

Statistics from the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) indicate that as of January 13, there have been 33 murders recorded in 2024.

According to the JCF, the same number of murders were recorded during the same period last year, which means that murders have neither increased nor decreased for the period.

The majority of murders were recorded in the St James Police Division, followed by the St Ann Police Division.

As it relates to other major crimes, a total of 39 shootings have been recorded so far this year. There have been 20 reports of robberies and 31 reports of break-ins.

Additionally, seven rapes have been reported.
