Just days after his elevation to the helm of Sandals Resorts International, The ATL Group yesterday announced that Adam Stewart has been appointed its executive chairman.

Stewart, 40, follows in the footsteps of his father, tourism and business mogul Gordon ‘Butch’ Stewart, who died earlier this month at age 79.

In a release from the ATL Group yesterday, the younger Stewart embraced the call to continue his father’s work.

“Everything we are today he created, and the opportunity to continue to build on his legacy is my greatest honour,” he said.

Stewart, who over the past two decades has worked by his father’s side at both Sandals and ATL, was previously chief executive officer and deputy chairman of both companies.

Among his accomplishments since joining ATL was the transformation of ATL Automotive Group from a single dealership into one of the Caribbean leading automotive companies incorporating sales and service centres located in Kingston and Montego Bay offering sales and service of several high-end motor vehicle brands.

In 2016, he spearheaded the establishment of an exclusive partnership to bring German carmaker Porsche to Jamaica.

ATL Automotive now includes eight motor vehicle brands across several locations as well as master dealer status overseeing 10 Caribbean islands for the BMW and MINI brands, as well as a unique tri-brand franchise partnership with the world’s leading car rental company, Enterprise Holdings Inc.

The ATL Group’s overall portfolio of companies include Appliance Traders, the ATL Automotive Group, The Jamaica Observer, AC Hotel Kingston, and Gorstew.
