Jamaica’s national discus champion Ralford Mullings has donated five throwing discus equipment to his high school alma mater, Kingston College (KC), on July 4.

The 22-year-old Mullings had just won his first Jamaican title when he found time to visit  KC.

“Grateful to give back to the place where my journey began. My prestigious high school that nurtured my roots,” Mullings posted on Facebook.

“Here’s to seeing many more athletes rise and thrive. Big thanks to Fibersport for their continued support and collaboration,” he added when handing over the equipment to veteran coach Hamil Pagon.

Mullings has been having a stellar year, fresh from winning the NCAA’s Outdoor discus title on June 13, 2025, with a meeting record of 69.31 metres ahead of discus world record holder Mykolas Alekna. Mullings was named men’s field athlete of the year at the 2025 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field National Awards.

With Olympic champion Roje Stona on the verge of switching allegiance from Jamaica to Turkey and with Fedrick Dacres struggling with injuries, Mullings’ ascension is timely.

Mullings, the 2023 NACAC champion, is currently ranked 15th in the world, behind leader Mykolas Alekna, with a massive 75.56m. The next best Jamaican is Dacres, sitting at 32 in the world with a season’s best of 66.33m.
