With COVID-19 vaccinations now under way for all Jamaicans 18 years and older, the Health Ministry is pulling out all the stops to get as many Jamaicans inoculated as possible, including extending the opening hours of select vaccination blitz sites.
In a tweet on Tuesday morning (August 3), Minister of Health and Wellness Dr Christopher Tufton noted that the National Arena, one of the country’s largest vaccination centres, will remain open until 8 pm today.
The extended opening hours are to facilitate as many Jamaicans who wish to be vaccinated as possible, as the ministry aims to achieve its target of administering 150,000 doses of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine within a one-week period.
The importance of getting vaccinated against the coronavirus vaccine has become ten-fold in recent months, as more transmissible strains continue to be identified worldwide, with no clear end to the pandemic in sight.
As COVID-19 case counts are once again on the rise, Tufton is calling for all Jamaicans to “Come get vaxxed”.
