Philadelphia 76ers forward Paul George, who was limited to just 41 games last season, suffered a left knee injury during a recent workout.
The good news? The star forward underwent a successful arthroscopic procedure Monday and will begin rehab immediately, but his status for training camp in October remains uncertain.
At 35 years old, George’s recurring injuries are becoming a growing concern for the 76ers. The timing couldn’t be worse. Philly fans were just starting to dream big after the team drafted explosive guard VJ Edgecombe with the No. 3 pick.
A core of George, Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey, and Edgecombe could be special only if everyone stays healthy.

With Embiid also managing his own recovery, Maxey may have to shoulder a heavy offensive load early on. The 76ers will no doubt play it safe with their stars, but another setback for George would be a tough blow for a team with championship aspirations.
