Cooper Flagg made NBA history as the youngest player to score 40+ points in a game, pouring in 42 points along with seven rebounds and six assists.
Despite his talents, the Dallas Mavericks fell 140-133 in overtime to the Utah Jazz at Delta Centre in Salt Lake City.
The 18-year-old forward, the number one pick in this year’s Draft, matched a Mavericks rookie record set by Mark Aguirre and joined LeBron James and Kevin Durant as only the third teenager in NBA history to record 40 points, five rebounds, and five assists in a game. Flagg, who turns 19 on Sunday, had already racked up 24 points by halftime, and the Mavericks held a late fourth-quarter lead of 124-116.
However, Utah clawed back, erasing an eight-point deficit and forcing overtime, where the Jazz dominated. Keyonte George led the charge with 37 points, supported by Lauri Markkanen’s 33, helping Utah notch their 10th win of the season. The Mavericks currently sit 12th in the Western Conference, with the Jazz in 10th.
